The present information document provides an overview of the work of the United Nations development system at the regional level in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and highlights examples of systemwide action and results at the regional level in the course of 2021. The document responds to the call by the Secretary-General for annual reporting on system-wide results at the regional level.

The annual results report of the Africa Regional Collaborative Platform (RCP) covers key results and deliverables reported between January and December 2021, demonstrating a gradual shift from the design phase of the RCP to its implementation stage.

This 2021 report seeks to advance the UN Secretary General’s vision for regional support geared towards SDG achievement. It was shared with member States on the occasion of the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Region, which took place on 6-7 April 2022. This report focusses on the collective achievements and joint system-wide impact at the regional level, as well as on the strategic response of the UN system to development priorities of the region, and to the urgent needs resulting from the global COVID-19 pandemic. This report also aims to enhance the transparency and results-based management priorities of the UN Development System (UNDS).

The present document covers achievements and key results of the RCP's support to member States and UN Country Teams (UNCTs) on a diverse range of issues in 2021. 

This report provides an overview of both achievements and challenges of the Development Coordination Office (DCO) and the RC system, and complements the 2022 Secretary-General’s Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR) report.
