Five Years for Action. Five Years for Impact.
With five years to 2030, the focus is clear: what is delivering results now—and how to scale it faster.
Across countries and communities, progress is already happening. Jobs are being created. Energy access is expanding. Schools are using digital tools. Health systems are reaching more people. Climate solutions are being deployed locally.
Five Years For is about accelerating what works—country by country, community by community—so results reach people where they live.
A Shared Framework. Local Leadership.
Adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a shared framework to advance prosperity, equity, and sustainability for people and planet. But delivery happens locally.
Each country faces distinct challenges—from food prices and employment to energy costs, safety, digital access, and climate resilience. Acceleration starts with these real-world issues, and with national leadership in the driver’s seat.
The role of the UN is to support, align, and help scale solutions—bringing together expertise, data, financing, and partnerships in ways that strengthen national priorities.

From Goals to Ground-Level Results
The final stretch to 2030 is not about new promises. It is about:
- Scaling proven solutions already improving lives
- Focusing on the issues people care about most
- Using data, digital tools, and innovation to guide smarter decisions Mobilizing partnerships and financing to extend impact
- Acceleration means moving faster by being more focused—and by showing progress clearly and credibly.
Country-Led Delivery, Coordinated Support
At the heart of SDG acceleration is coordinated delivery on the ground.
The UN Sustainable Development Group, with the UN Development Coordination Office as its Secretariat, works with UN Country Teams to support national development priorities.
At country level, Resident Coordinators coordinate the UN’s work behind government-led plans—connecting expertise across the UN system, strengthening partnerships, and accelerating results where they matter most.
This is how integrated support translates ambition into action.
Trust, Clarity, Momentum
Progress depends on clear, trusted information. Showing what is changing, at what pace, and why it matters builds confidence and momentum.
That is why Five Years For emphasizes evidence, lived experience, and results you can see—not abstract targets.
By framing action around everyday challenges and tangible outcomes, the SDGs become easier to understand, easier to engage with, and easier to support.
Youth at the Center of Acceleration
Young people are already driving change—in communities, schools, startups, and social movements.
The Pact for the Future reinforces this momentum, recognizing youth as essential partners in delivering sustainable development today and safeguarding progress for future generations.
Five Years For reflects this reality: youth-powered, locally grounded, and forward-looking.
Five Years For
Focused Action. Scaled Solutions. Real Results.
Five Years For is not about the distance left to travel—it is about the progress already underway and the opportunity to accelerate it.
Everywhere, solutions are working.
The task now is to connect them, scale them, and make them count—for people and for planet.
