The promise of the digital economy remains out of reach for millions of youth in Colombia's Pacific and Caribbean regions. But a UN-supported programme is using technology to connect young people to economic opportunities, reducing territorial inequalities.

During Geneva Digital Week, UN leaders called for inclusive global governance to ensure that AI is safe, ethical and benefits everyone, especially those in developing countries. They also emphasised the importance of human oversight, transparency and international cooperation to harness AI's potential and mitigate its risks.

At the inaugural UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance, the UN Secretary-General advocated for a humane approach to AI through inclusive implementation and funding, adequate testing and guardrails that protect the most vulnerable and human rights.

As heatwaves become increasingly severe and long, the UN is supporting communities by improving access to water, addressing the health impacts of extreme temperatures and leveraging both nature and new technologies.
