The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Ms. Nahla Valji of Canada as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Eritrea, with the host Government’s approval. She took up her post on January 21, and will also serve as the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the country.

Before these reforms, this link simply did not exist and there was a gap between intergovernmental outcomes and action by UN Country Teams.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Mr. Adam Abdelmoula of Sudan as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Syria. He will also serve as Humanitarian Coordinator. He took up his post on May 14.
