He will have additional responsibility for programme matters in Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. His appointment is effective as of 31 May.
Mr. Myint brings over 20 years of international development experience with the United Nations and the World Bank in a range of complex country contexts. At the United Nations, he served in the Asia‑Pacific Division of the Department of Political Affairs from 2007 to 2009, supporting the Secretary‑General’s Special Adviser on Myanmar, with a secondment to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in 2008 as part of the United Nations humanitarian response to Cyclone Nargis. From 2005 to 2007, he served as Country Programme Manager of the United Nations Inter-Agency Project (UNIAP), addressing human trafficking in the Greater Mekong Subregion; and from 2003 to 2005 he worked with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
At the World Bank, Mr. Myint was part of the team that wrote the 2011 World Development Report on Conflict, Security and Development, and went on to apply those lessons in a range of contexts, including in Myanmar, where he led the Bank’s re‑engagement in 2012 and developed the World Bank Group’s first country strategy for Myanmar in over 40 years. Most recently, he served as Global Manager of the World Bank’s Social Development department, leading a team responsible for policy, partnerships and operational support to high‑complexity operations across a $7 billion project portfolio. In early 2026, he helped launch the new World Bank Group Social Policy department, integrating the Bank’s Social Development and Social Protection departments as well as units from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as part of the new World Bank Group Knowledge Bank.
Mr. Myint holds a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Middlebury College in the United States and a Master’s degree in international relations from the University of Chicago, USA.
