Given the scale and scope of COVID-19, under the leadership of the Resident Coordinators, UN teams, are working as one across all facets of the response. Today, 24 July 2020, we showcase some of the coordinated efforts across the globe to help countries recover from the health, social and economic shocks the pandemic has caused.
One could easily observe Lachyn’s high spirit from her delighted smile when she entered the room on a wheelchair. Creating an inclusive environment for people like Lachyn and other vulnerable populations where they can benefit from quality community-based social services is what the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations are striving to achieve.

Parents are relieved to learn that a toll-free number had become available to register births and get other government certificates. The number—132—was introduced at the end of 2018 for birth registration. It covers two of the country’s 12 districts, the ones with the lowest birth-registration rates.
