Countries worldwide are accelerating progress towards the SDGs by embracing transformative approaches, with RCs and UN teams supporting national governments to drive systemic change.

Launch of a global road safety campaign, #MakeASafetyStatement, aiming to halve road-related fatalities by 2030. In collaboration with celebrities and partners, the campaign raises awareness and mobilizes political will for action. UN teams in Guatemala and South Africa are implementing targeted initiatives to address local challenges and foster safer roads.

There is no space for hate in a peaceful future. Marking the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, June 18, we look at how UN Country Teams (UNCT) on the ground are at the forefront of combatting hate speech. Embedded in their national context and communities, UN entities are uniquely placed to support public spaces that are diverse, inclusive and safe. UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed called for greater ambition and leadership from African countries at her annual dialogue with Regional Directors of UN entities, at the Africa Regional Collaborative Platform’s (RCP) meeting held last week in Addis Ababa.
