UN Resident Coordinators (RCs) have emerged as vital agents of change, driving systemic shifts to help countries identify and use mechanisms to finance their development priorities and ensure that national budgets are aligned with the SDGs.
As a key institution of governance, the PNTL has been instrumental to Timor-Leste’s pride in being a model of democracy, good governance and human rights in Southeast Asia. As I prepare to conclude my five-year tenure as the UN Resident Coordinator in Peru, I reflect on how challenging and fulfilling these years have been and their culmination in many achievements for the UN in Peru. In this time, I have had to work closely with different teams managing the resources available to support the government in advancing developmental work in Peru.
