April was an eventful month in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The Lao new year. The approach of the rainy season and, with it, malaria and dengue. The arrival of a new disease, COVID-19. The upending of daily life and business. Taken together, these challenges are potentially disastrous. However, longstanding partners are finding ways to continue delivering vital health services to those who need it most.
Together with national authorities, the private sector and other partners, the UN teams serving 162 countries and territories continue to prioritize the fight against COVID-19. Today, we highlight some of their work as of 19 June 2020.
